Postdoctoral Position
An immediate opening exists for a postdoctoral researcher to characterize responses of human neuronal precursor cells to developmental neurotoxicants. The incumbent will assess the susceptibility of human neuronal precursor cells to a wide variety of developmental neurotoxicants, with an emphasis on effects on proliferation and differentiation. The incumbent will join an interdisciplinary team of investigators working to develop high-throughput methods to screen for potential developmental neurotoxicity. It is expected that the incumbent will be highly motivated and comfortable working in a team environment.
This position is located in the Neurotoxicology Division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Health and Environmental Research Laboratory in Research Triangle Park, NC. This modern laboratory possesses state-of-the-art equipment and support facilities that include image-analysis, molecular biology, genomics and tissue culture. This setting has recently been selected the #1 work environment for post-doctoral associates in a survey by The Scientist. This position will be administered through a co-operative agreement between the U.S. EPA and a local university.
Requirements are a recently earned PhD in toxicology, neuroscience, molecular biology, pharmacology or related field with solid experience in tissue culture techniques, biochemistry and neurobiology. Previous experience with use of neuronal precursor cells or stem cells is highly desired, but not required. This position requires good verbal and written communication skills.
